Hope, 58, of Bighorn died Wednesday morning at Deaconess Hospital. He under went heart surgery last week. Mr. Hope was currently president of Southeastern Montana Stock Growers Association, served as County Commissioner of Treasure County from 1959 - 1968, was past president-= of Rosebud and Treasure County Wildlife Association, served on the board of the Montana Aeronautics Association; was a member of Hysham Masonic Lodge No. 129, AF & AM and the Scottish Rite Bodies of Billings. He was born Jan. 8, 1916, in Bighorn, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin W. Hope. He attended grade schools in Tullock and was a 1932 graduate of Hysham High School. He married Alice A. Halver Aug. 11, 1940 in Crane. They ranched on the family ranch in Bighorn. Survivors include the widow; two sons, Carl B., of Hysham; Russell W. of Melville; a daughter, Miss Lucy C. Hope, attending MSU in Bozeman, MT.; a sister, Miss Lucy F. Hope, of Bighorn; two brothers, Joseph E. of Busby, MT., Thomas R. of Bighorn, and two grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Custer Congregational Church with the Rev, Joe Murphy officiating. Burial will be in the Custer Cemetery, Custer, MT. A scholarship fund had been established at Hysham High School in memory of a daughter, Elizabeth A, Hope, who was killed in car accident Nov. 25, 1972. The fund will be continued in the family name. Smith's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
