(Perry) McIntire, daughter of Orval Ray Perry and Genieve (Briley) Perry, was born on April 19, 1936 in Osceola, Iowa. She grew up with an older sister, Twyla and a younger brother Darrell. She was raised on a farm, milked cows and raised chickens. She went to country schools and moved a lot as her father worked for farmers. Wanda played basketball for Thayer High School and even won a free-throw contest as a guard. She also danced ballet in a high school musical, which people came from all around to watch. Wanda graduated as Salutatorian of her class. Wanda was united in marriage to John E. McIntire on September 29, 1954 in Methodist Parsonage in Osceola, Ia. and started a family. They raised 3 boys, Barry, Jack and Jerry and 3 girls, Cheryl, Sheila and Shelly. Wanda was a stay at home mom until later years, except for working part-time for the school food service personnel with some special friends at the Arispe school. She was also an Avon lady who loved visiting with the people. Additionally, Wanda worked for First Federal Savings Bank and Bunn-o-Matic, both in Creston. Wanda went back to school at SWCC in the Fall of 1983 to secretarial school and graduated with a clerical degree. She loved animals and was a great nurturer. She was a very good cook, especially her homemade noodles and chocolate cake, and a wonderful seamstress making clothes for her kids. Wanda always had a garden and flowers and enjoyed being outside. She and Johnny went through a time when they would attend exotic animal sales and return with something new. She had horses, cows, chickens, turkeys, rabbits, dogs, cats, peacocks, guineas, goats and her favorite, two pigmy goats named Gidget and Bridget. Wanda’s children and grandchildren were her whole world. She loved fixing and doing for them, teaching and helping them in anyway she could. She so enjoyed fun times such as picnics, trail rides, dances, get togethers, being outside and doing crafts with friends and family. She was one of the kindest and most gracious women you would ever meet and she will be missed by many. She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Christian Church. Survivors include her three sons, Barry, Jack (wife Barb) and Jerry (wife Terrinda); three daughters, Cheryl (husband Danny), Sheila (husband Herman) and Shelly (husband Bill); 14 grandchildren, Cody, Casey (Jenny), Shawn (Donna), Kevin (Kate), Nick, Mallory, Zach (Madison), Matt (Laurie), Michelle (Jason), Emily, Amanda, Wylie (Stephanie), Dalli, Dallen; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Darrell; one brother-in-law, Ray (Janie); and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, in 2017, one sister, Twyla Smith, one sister-in-law, Carol Perry and two brothers-in-law, Lloyd and Everett McIntire.
