Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Interment was at the Black Oak Cemetery in Pella. Casket bearers were "Sons and Nephew", Dr. Roger W. Willemsen, Mr. David L. Warner Cornelius Willemsen was born on October 22, 1918 near Galesburg in Jasper County, the son of Cornelius and Mary Van Rheenen Willemsen. Warner graduated from the eighth grade of the Pleasant View country school east of Pella and later served as a member of the board of this school. On February 19, 1941, he was united in marriage with Johanna Ver Heul of Pella and to this union five children were born. Warner farmed east of Pella all his married lifetime. In 1982 he and Jo moved to Pella. Although not on the farm you could not take the farm out of Warner's life. They were making their home at 804 West 4th Street at the time of his death. Surviving are his wife Johanna; their five children and their families; Roger W. and Marcia Willemsen of Fresno, Cal. and their three children; Donald W. and Joan Willemsen of Pella and their four children; David L. and Gloria Willemsen of Pella and their three children; Craig R. and Sparky Willemsen of Guam; and Maurice and Brenda J. (Willemsen) Rykhoek of Pella and their daughter. Besides his wife, children, and eleven grandchildren, Warner leaves his sister, Elvera (Mrs. Cornelius Spoelstra) of New Sharon, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father, Cornelius who died in 1962; his mother, Mary who died in 1967; a sister who died in infancy and one grandson, Rodney John Willemsen, who died in 1968. He was an active lifetime member of the Third Reformed Church at Pella where he served as a Deacon and an Elder and was presently a member of the Consistory. He was also a faithful member of the men's Sunday School class. Memorials may be given to the Faith Promise Building Fund for the Third Reformed Church in Pella.
