He graduated from Geneva High School with the class of... Read More	LEFEVER WARREN LaVELLE FLUNKY--Warren LaVelle Flunky Lefever was born to John R. Lefever and Nora E. (Lefever) Lefever on June 20, 1917 near Strang, and passed away January 23, 1995, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, at the age of 77 years, seven months and three days. He was one of five children in the family. Warren attended school in rural District 57 while living near Strang and in 1925 attended rural District 47 when the family moved to a farm three miles west of Geneva. He graduated from Geneva High School with the class of 1934. After graduation he worked on the family farm and for several years in the fall he went to Illinois with other young men from the area to pick corn. He also worked for short periods of time at Klippenstein Implement in Geneva, and a silk factory in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, but returned to farming. Warren was united in marriage to Florence Rebecca Garrett of rural Geneva at the Evangelical United Brethren parsonage in Shelby, on June 9, 1940. They made their home on the farm three miles west of Geneva. Three children were born to them. Warren and Florence moved to Geneva in the fall of 1977. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1990. Warren was a member of the Frist Congregational United Church of Christ, where he served on many committees. He was a charter member of the Geneva Grange. While serving as Master of the Grange, he initiated the publishing of The Fillmore County Story. He and Florence spent many enjoyable hours gathering information for this project. He held numerous offices in Grange and was proud to have served as State Treasurer for several years. Warren and Melvin Anderson organized and served as co-leaders for The Beef & Future Dairymen, a 4-H club for neighborhood boys, which is still active today. He enjoyed the friendships with members of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and at the time of his death was Noble Grand. Warren’s greatest love was his family. He was especially proud of his grandchildren, all of whom he dearly loved. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, feeding the birds, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, long rides in the country and collecting music boxes and pencils. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nora; one brother, Wayne and an infant sister, Joy Anne. He is survived by his wife, Florence; son, Ken and wife, Sandra; daughters, JoAnn Edgecombe and husband, John, and Beth Hultine and husband, Bruce; one brother, John L. and wife, Lena; sister W. Jean Vance and husband, John; and one sister-in-law, Pat Lefever; grandchildren, John, Nathan, and Daniel Lefever; James and Michael Edgecombe and Brent and Aimee Hultine; nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted from the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Geneva on Wednesday, January 25, with the Rev. Wanda Weiting Bennett and the Rev. Nita Hays officiating. Nancy Cradduck accompanied Bill Bennett who sang “In the Garden” and “Because He Lives.” Pallbearers were his grandchildren, John F., James J., Nathan T, Michael P. and Daniel D. Lefever, Brent L. and Aimee B. Hultine. Honorary pallbearers were all Warren’s friends. Interment was in the Geneva Public Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal February 1st, 1995 page 13.
