Description	:	LEFEVER, NORA ELIZABETH—Nora Elizabeth Lefever, daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth (Rohrer) Lefever, was born on a farm near Strang, Neb., July 22, 1893. She passed away in the Long Term Care unit of the Fillmore County hospital Wednesday, February 13, 1974, at the age of 80 years, 6 months and 21 days. The first eight years of her education were received at District No. 57. She then attended Strang high school where she graduated in 1909. Nora was baptized and became a member of the Strang United Brethren church at an early age, later transferring her membership to the Geneva United Brethren church where she attended Sunday school and church regularly. She was an active member of the Ladies Aid of Strang and Geneva. Upon moving to Missouri she retained her membership in the Geneva church which later became the United Methodist church. On December 14, 1915, she was united in marriage to John R. Lefever of Lancaster, Pa., in the United Brethren parsonage in Strang. They established their first home west of Strang. In 1925 they moved to a farm west of Geneva. This was their home until February, 1941, when they moved to a farm near Humphreys, Mo. Five children came to bless this union. They are: Warran and Wayne of Geneva; John L. of Humphreys, Mo.; Jean Vance of Levittown, Pa., and Joy Anne, who passed away in infancy. The Lefever's observed their golden wedding anniversary in December, 1965, with a family gathering at the Warren Lefever home near Geneva. Nora was a quiet reserved woman who loved her family and home. She greatly enjoyed her flowers and gardening. Her health began to fail nearly 20 years ago, but she kept her faith, never complaining. She became hospitalized at Geneva in January, 1971, where she remained until her passing. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Ralph; and her infant daughter Joy Anne. She is survived by her husband, John R. of Humphreys, Mo.; three sons, Warren and wife Florence of Geneva, Wayne and wife Pat of Geneva, John L. of Humphreys, Mo., one daughter, Jean Vance and husband John of Levittown, Pa.; eight grandchildren four great-grandsons, one brother, Paul Lefever of near Strang, and one sister, Mrs. O. J. (Maude) Lewis of York. Funeral services were conducted at the Farmer-Harris funeral home, Geneva, at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 1974, with Rev. John E. Stayton officiating. Mrs. Alvin Rizer sang “Abide With Me” and “Whispering Hope,” accompanied by Mrs. Willard Foster. Pallbearers were Craig Lefever, Kenneth Lefever, John Edgecombe, Bruce Hultine, Roscoe Burke and Richard Wagner. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal 21 February 1974 page 5.
