Was born in Mercer county (sic), Penn., November 17, 1845 and moved to Washington county (sic), Iowa, in 1851, where he remained until 1865 when he went to Jefferson county (sic). Seven children blessed this union - five now living, all being present at the funeral. On March 9, 1891, his wife died. Mr. Randall was considered one of the pioneers, having settled on his homestead in March, 1873, where he remained until he moved to town in the spring of 1891. In September, 1892, he was married to Mrs Olive M. Boyd, and resided in this city until his death which occurred Monday afternoon, January 6, 1896. The funeral was from the family residence, the services being conducted by Rev. Hobson and Prof Hubbell. The Grand Army, of which the deceased was a member, was present in a body, and a large number of friends of the family assisted in the last sad rites. By the death of Mr. Randall the people of Fairfield have suffered a great and irreparable loss, for he had endeared himself to us by his genial open-hearted and social disposition; for he was a kind and generous friend and had entrenched himself in the hearts of this community, and the fond remembrance in which he is held by all will form the silver living to the dark cloud which hangs over his sorrowing relatives and friends. We recognize the deep sorrow in which his family are plunged and as a public servant the TRIBUNE extends to them the heart-felt sympathy of their many friends and commend them to the loving care of Him, who will be a "father to the fatherless" and a helper to the widow.
