Bob Shelley, 89, son of Emerson & Mary (Barger) Shelley was born November 3, 1920 in Guthrie Center, Iowa. He passed away Thursday, October 14, 2010 at his home in Bagley, Iowa. He grew up on a farm one mile North of Guthrie Center and graduated from Guthrie Center High School in 1938. He worked in the coal mines and he was married on May 17, 1942 to Marcella Mobley in Maryville, MO. Bob entered the U.S. Army in 1942 and served during W.W.II. After he was discharged from the Army in 1945, he back to Guthrie Center and farmed. Bob served as county supervisor for 13 years and he later worked in Ackley. They moved to Texas and they owned a motel for 6 years. They have spent their winters in Texas since 1976. Bob was a member of the American Legion Post in Guthrie Center. Bob is survived by his wife Marcella of Bagley, his daughters; Judith 9Duane) Allemang of Covington, WA, Karen Stevens of Bothell, WA< 7 grandchildren, 9 great0grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving is a special niece Janet (Bill) Wilson of Jamaica, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, on grand-daughter Kerri Hawkins, four brothers; Glen, Lyle, Wayne, Floyd, two sisters: Mary Wine and Opal Prettyman.”
