Thank you for adding! The unexpected death of Washington Dawson, at his home near Nevada, Iowa, on Thursday November 13, 1902, was received here on Thursday. Mr. Dawson was born in Money Creek township (McLean County, IL) July 3, 1834 and lived near the scene of his birth the greater part of his life. Some 10 or 11 years ago he moved to Iowa, and purchased a farm near Nevada, later he moved near Ames. Three years of his life he spent in Army service which no doubt helped to shorten a very useful life. He was a man who attended strictly to business and home. He had met with success in his line of work, farming, and had not neglected to prepare for another and better home when trials on earth were ended. For some time Mr. Dawsons health had been failing, yet the termination of his earthly career was sudden an unexpected, Apoplexy being the cause. Besides his wife, there are left to mourn his departure 4 sones, Charles, William, Jame and Howard of Iowa and 2 brothers Chrogan of Lexington, IL and his twin brother Marion of Nevada, Iowa; one sister Cynthia Kemp of Nebraska and a half-sister Mrs. Underwood, of Kansas City. His life was helpful to others, besides his own family. He tried to do as he would be done by, than which there is no other way of living. The funeral services were held at the later residence of the deceased near Nevada. The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Dawson in and near this City unite in extending to the family their sympathy and their sad bereavement. Contributor: Connie (48487941)
