Description	:	Wava Jean Pierce, 87, of Sidney, Iowa entered into rest on August 27, 2018 while traveling from Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Tabor Manor Care Center in Tabor, Iowa. She took her detour to Heaven approximately fifteen minutes before the crew transporting her arrived in Tabor. Wava, the daughter of George Fredrick Curtis and Erma Ellen (Kephart) Curtis, was born in Mason City, Iowa on January 13, 1931. She attended Mason City Schools and Bartlett School in Bartlett, Iowa following her family’s move to Thurman, Iowa in 1942. In 1948 she married Henry Vernon Weight and to this union were born two sons, Wayne and Rodney. Following Vernon’s death in 1959, Wava married Clelend “Code” Pierce and had a daughter, Brenda, and another son, Monte. While raising her four children, Wava was involved in the operation of the family farm and her husband Code’s trucking business. In addition to bookkeeping, cooking, and canning, she did field work, drove tractors when needed, and made numerous trips to Omaha to purchase truck parts. Wava was baptized in 1967 at the Sidney Church of Christ and was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Tabor. Her hobbies included reading, cooking, listening to country music, and volunteering her time in service to others. She was locally famous for her delicious lemon pies. Wava never met a stranger. She loved to visit. Code described her as a very good mother and wife and noted that she always wanted to help anyone she could. Preceding Wava in death were her parents, her sister Wanda Younger, her brother Russell Curtis, and her sons Wayne Weight, Rodney Weight, and Monte Pierce. She is survived by her sister Donna Ball of Glenwood, Iowa; her sister-in-law Colleen Pierce of Malvern, Iowa; her daughter Brenda Pierce Almquist and husband Dennis of Sidney, Iowa; her daughters-in-law Susan Weight of Creston, Iowa, and Michelle Denniston and husband Clint of Nebraska City, Nebraska; her grandchildren: Brian Wallace and wife Stephanie of Creston, Iowa; Rachelle Weight and husband Jim Annis of Omaha, Nebraska; Chris Pierce and wife Kerry of Omaha, Nebraska; Trey Denniston of Nebraska City, Nebraska; Lane Almquist of Sidney, Iowa, and Carly Almquist of Sidney, Iowa; her great-grandchildren: Breanna and Brodie Wallace; Nadyia, Brooklynn and Jace Pierce; her nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and a host of friends.
