Read More	KILLED IN ACTION PFC Wayne Burton Agnew was born March 6, 1910 in Nodaway, Iowa and died in Mirames, France, December 5, 1944 of accidental gunshot wounds. He was the son of Floyd Agnew. His mother, Pearl Agnew, preceded him in death, December 17, 1922, when Wayne was 12 years old. He spent his entire life in and around Nodaway and made their home with his father until he was inducted into the service. He was employed by the C.B.& Q. railroad before entering the service, and was serving with the military construction of the army engineers. He was inducted into the service April 22, 1942, and spent 8 months in Camp Clovis, New Mexico, before leaving the States. He had taken part in the campaign in Africa, Italy, and France, where he was serving at the time of his death. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Nodaway. He was married in 1942 and his wife, Mrs. Mary (Haley) Agnew of Villisca survives. Also his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Agnew of Nodaway, two brothers and one half-brother, Mearl of Kent, Harley of Villisca, and Harold at home. One niece and one nephew, Phyllis and Jimmie Agnew of Villisca. Memorial services were held at the Methodist Church at 2:30 p.m. January 14, conducted by Rev. H. B. Kishpaugh. Music was a ladies trio, Miss Iola Orme, Mrs. J. R. Disnukes, and Mrs. H. B. Kishpaugh. pianist Mrs. Howard Spiknell. Adams County Free Press, Thursday, January 25th, 1945. page 7 On December 28, 1944 word was received by Floyd Agnew on Nodaway, that their son, PFC Wayne Agnew was killed in action December 5 in France. PFC Wayne Agnew was serving with the Army Engineers and had been in the service about two years. He is the nephew of L. F. Bowers of Corning, Adams County Free Press, Thursday, January 4, 1945, page 1 Several from around here attended the Memorial services for Wayne B. Agnew that was held at the M. E. Church in Nodaway Sunday afternoon. Wayne was another one of the area boys that made the supreme sacrifice. Adams County Free Press, Thursday, January 18, 1945, page 19. Wayne AGNEW Agnew, Wayne B. was born on 6 March 1910, and served in the Transportation Corps of the Army Engineers. He was killed in France on 5 December 1944 as a result of an accidental gunshot wound. By that date he had been in the service about 2 years. At the time of his death he was a Private First Class.
