Description	:	Wayne Darwin Purkett, age 58, of Forsyth, passed away on April 2, 2006 at the Saint Vincent Hospital following a short battle with cancer. Darwin was born the son of Henry James and Opal (Eayrs) Purkett on September 5, 1947 in Glasgow, MT. He grew up and was educated in the Forsyth school system graduating in 1965. Read More	Wayne Darwin Purkett, age 58, of Forsyth, passed away on April 2, 2006 at the Saint Vincent Hospital following a short battle with cancer. Darwin was born the son of Henry James and Opal (Eayrs) Purkett on September 5, 1947 in Glasgow, MT. He grew up and was educated in the Forsyth school system graduating in 1965. While growing up in Forsyth Darwin took part in many youth activities such as baseball and the scouting program. Darwin was active in wrestling, football and track & field in his high school years. His time playing sports was a great passion for Darwin as he shared the field and mat with his friends and team mates, Brian Rolston and Bill Parker, He threw the shot put in track and broke the school shot put record in 1965 which had been held by his brother Duane since 1954. This record still stands today as one of the oldest breakable records to date at Forsyth High School. Following his graduation, Darwin attending Eastern Montana College inMiles City, where he earned his associates of arts degree and was a vital part of a successful wrestling team with his friends, Ron Brumfield and Dick Ferguson. Darwin married Susan Reh in 1978 in Forsyth, MT. Together they made their home in Forsyth where Darwin was employed by Kent Autobody, Bechtel Power Corporation and was part of the construction of the power plants in Colstrip as well as working at the Conoco refinery in Billings. Later Darwin worked in Forsyth for different contractors as a carpenter, even though it was frustrating to some because he took his time wanting everything to be perfect. He lived by the code, "measure twice, cut once". D arwin's passion was fishing and could almost always be found at the dam in Forsyth. He enjoyed working on and restoring cars, photography, the Young Mens Club and traveling on his motorcycle throughout the west coast. Some of his fondest memories were times spent hunting and fishing with his brother, Duane, spending time with the Piseno Family, and camping and barbecuing with his his family and the Steinberger family. Recently Darwin spent his time polishing agates with his friend, Richard Stevens. Darwin's greatest pride was his four boys. He enjoyed watching them play sports, camping, teaching them to fish, how to survive in the wilderness, and working on cars. He is survived by his parents, Jim Purkett and Opal Purkett both of Forsyth, his sons Chrisopher Purkett of Missoula, Joshua Purkett of San Antonioo, TX, David Schafer and Dan Schafer both of San Antonio, TX; two nieces Danae (Ryan) Pinkerton, Darci (Donald) Saeman, two nephews, Darin (Kristine) Purkett, and Dalen (Wendy) Purkett, sister-in-law Nancy Purkett, numerous cousins, as well as his former wife Susan Reh. Darwin was preceded in death by his brother Duane. FUNERLA SERVICE: Saturday, Aril 8, 2006 at 1:00pm Chapel of Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home.
