Wayne was born August 23, 1916 at Minden, Nebraska, the sixth of seven children born to James and Florence (Merryman) Wells. Wayne received his education in Broadwater, Nebraska through the 11th grade and then attended Holdrege (NE.) High School his senior year, graduating with the class of 1934. Read More	Wayne Wells, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Holdrege Memorial Homes, Holdrege, Nebraska. Wayne was born August 23, 1916 at Minden, Nebraska, the sixth of seven children born to James and Florence (Merryman) Wells. Wayne received his education in Broadwater, Nebraska through the 11th grade and then attended Holdrege (NE.) High School his senior year, graduating with the class of 1934. On March 16, 1941, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Ehlers at Kearney, Nebraska. The couple made their home on a farm north of Holdrege, Nebraska where Wayne engaged in farming and the couple raised four children: Bob, Don and twins: Gary and Judy. Wayne was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Evelyn for nearly 58 years. He lovingly cared for her after her health deteriorated until her passing in January of 1999. Wayne was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Holdrege. Wayne enjoyed playing horseshoes, baseball and softball, and reading western books in his youth. He also enjoyed music and loved to dance, he and Evelyn could regularly be found attending dances in the surrounding area. Following his retirement, Wayne loved to golf and tending to his beautiful yard. Besides his parents and wife, Evelyn; Wayne was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law: William and Eva Ehlers; brothers: Jimmy in childhood and Harley Wells and his wife, Clara; sisters: Irene Tilford and her husband, Willy, Ione Winters and her husband, Wally, Iola Beaird and her husband, Lawrence and Erma Fulcher and her husband, Ono; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Faye and Dick Black, Bill Ehlers, Bob Ehlers and Fred Ehlers. Wayne leaves to mourn his passing; sons: Bob Wells and his wife, Jean and Gary Wells and his wife, Helen all of Holdrege, Nebraska and Don Wells and his wife, Jan of Mooresville, North Carolina; daughter, Judy Kudlacek and her husband, Dwayne of Holdrege; grandchildren, Mark Wells and his wife, Heidi, Scott Wells, Tom Wells, Christina Wells and her husband, Darby Keeney, Todd Clement, Andrea Johnson and her husband, Brent, Chris Kudlacek and his wife, Jessica, Matt Kudlacek, Michele Dudley and her husband, James, Jennie Armendariz and her husband, Beau Bavery, and David Wells and his wife, Nicole; 23 great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren: Terisa Burgeson and her husband, Jeff, Lincoln Tilson and his wife, Patsy; sisters-in-law: Della Ehlers of Grand Junction, Colorado and Marie Ehlers of Sacramento, California and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral Services for Wayne Wells were conducted at the First United Methodist Church, Holdrege, Nebraska on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastors Jeff Adams and Glenn Frecks officiating. Interment was in Prairie Home Cemetery, Holdrege, Nebraska.
