Wendell was born August 17, 1927, in Bloomfield, Iowa, the son of Wendell L. and Helen Casady Elder. On August 30, 1948, he was united in marriage to Margaret Helen O'Bleness at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Keokuk, Iowa. Wendell was born August 17, 1927, in Bloomfield, Iowa, the son of Wendell L. and Helen Casady Elder. On August 30, 1948, he was united in marriage to Margaret Helen O'Bleness at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Keokuk, Iowa. Bud lived in Keokuk most of his life and had been employed at Elder Grocers for 26 years and then at Keokuk Steel Castings for 22 years. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk. He enjoyed woodworking and collecting coins and medallions, but most enjoyed his family and spending time with them. Bud is survived by four children and their families: Linda (Ron) Bevard of Keokuk and children, Heather, Shay, and Troy Bevard; Sandy (John) Brammer of Keokuk and children Scott Brammer and Amy Mead; Steve (Cheryl) Elder of Keokuk and children Rachel and Brooke Elder; and Randy Elder of Argyle and children Adam Elder and Aaron Pennington. Bud is also survived by eight great grandchildren; Gavyn, Basil, Amelie, Padrick, Kelsey, Kaleb, Lauren, and Jackson; and a nephew and two nieces. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margaret on July 22, 2014, and two sisters. Services will be at 2:00 Monday, January 11, 2016, at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center at 917 Blondeau Street with Rev. Robert Lathrop officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 Monday afternoon before the service. Memorials are suggested for American Cancer Society.
