Wendell Fischer and Crystal VanDiest, daughter of Garret VanDiest and Katie Boevink, were married in 1946 in the Pella community, rural Adams, Nebraska. He graduated in 1941 from Panama High School in Panama, Nebraska. Wendell Fischer and Crystal VanDiest, daughter of Garret VanDiest and Katie Boevink, were married in 1946 in the Pella community, rural Adams, Nebraska. They started married life on a farm northeast of Adams, Gage County, Nebraska. He bought and sold used farm equipment and trucks in addition to operating an equipment repair shop for many years to supplement their farm income. After harvest in 1954 he applied for a job at Nebraska Boiler Works in Lincoln, Nebraska and was hired as a welder. They sold out their farming operations and relocated to Bennet, Nebraska in 1955 He continued buying and selling used farm equipment and trucks while working at Nebraska Boiler. The used truck trading business continued to grow and it eventually become his primary interest. He left Nebraska Boiler after several years and focused on trading used trucks and truck salvage. They later relocated the business to 80 acres of land they had purchased on Highway 2 near Palmyra, Nebraska.
