He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, brother, and granddaughter. Born on May 22, 1914, in Clark, South Dakota, a son of Roy E. and Tilla C. Rasp Walker, he married Clara Petrie on March 12, 1937, in Princeton, Missouri. He graduated from Newburg High School. Wendell owned and operate Roy E. Walker and Sons General Store in Gilman for 33 years and later worked as a die cast operator for KIOWA Corporation in Marshalltown before retiring in 1979. He served as chief of Gilman's fire department for nine years.
