Read More	Wendell Lynn Burroughs, 85, of Waverly, Iowa, died early Friday morning, May 24, 2013, at the Shell Rock Health Care Center of natural causes. Wendell was born on September 10, 1927, in Allison, Iowa, the son of John A. and Ada (Sutcliffe) Burroughs. He attended the country school in Butler County, graduating in 1945 from the Allison High School. On June 20, 1945, Wendell entered the U.S. Navy during WWII, where he served as a Fireman First Class, until his honorable discharge on August 21, 1946. He returned to Iowa and on June 9, 1951, he was united in marriage to Rose Marie DeBonis in Fall River, Massachusetts. The couple made their home in Waterloo, Iowa, where Wendell and his brother John started the "Quick Delivery & Transfer" trucking company. Later Wendell went to work for Viking Pump until he went back to school, attending Iowa State Teachers College (now U.N.I.), graduating with a B.A. degree in 1964. Wendell then attended the University of Dubuque Seminary and in 1968 received his Masters of Divinity. From 1966 – 1968 Wendell was Pastor at Buck Creek Methodist Church, 1968-1970 was Pastor at Good Hope/Burt Churches in Kossuth County, and 1970-1972 Pastor at Faith United Methodist & Warren Churches. In 1972, Wendell returned to Viking Pump until 1989, when he retired as a machinist. Wendell was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls. He enjoyed working with stained glass, making beautiful panels, lights, clocks and much more. He was an avid reader and writer, and loved collecting records and listening to all kinds of music. He really enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and had a great love for his cat, "Ziggy". He is survived by his loving wife of over 61 years, Rose Burroughs of Waverly; his two daughters and their husbands, Mary (Jeffrey) Cook of Kansas City, Missouri, Christine (Bradley) Larson of Hoffman Estates, Illinois; three grandchildren, Ryan (Jennifer) McAdam of San Francisco, Erin (Patrick) Collins of Las Vegas, and Scott (Marla) Larson of Lubbock, Texas; two great grandchildren, Cade and Reid Larson; one brother, John (Arlene) Burroughs of Overland Park, Kansas; and a sister, Bette Kuhl of Waterloo. Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Roger Burroughs. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 1:30 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls, with Rev. Brad Braley officiating. Burial will be in the Harlington cemetery in Waverly. Public visitation will be held on Monday, May 27th from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and also for an hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls or Salvation Army. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly is assisting the family.
