His sudden death came as a great shock to relatives and friends. Read More	A pail of gloom was cast over the entire community on Thursday, when word came that Wendell Rich had passed away at Marshall, Minn., following an operation for sinus meningitis. His sudden death came as a great shock to relatives and friends. The deceased was born near Creighton, Nebr., on April 7, 1911 and died at Marshall, Minn, at the age of 19 years, 3 months and 10 days. He spent nearly his entire life in this community, and was one of our honored and respected young men. He was a quiet lad, but met everyone with a glad welcome. His going will leave a vacancy that time will not soon efface. He leaves to mourn, his mother, Mrs. Phoebe Rich, and one brother, Russel G. Rich of Creighton. His father preceded him in death in 1916. The remains arrived here Saturday afternoon and funeral services were held from the Hengstler & Son Chapel. Chas. Dickens of Calgary, Canada, and Clifford Holt of Des Moines, Ia., spoke at the services. Numerous friends of the family attended the last rites and expressed sympathy to the bereaved. The body was tenderly laid to rest in Greenwood cemetery. To the bereaved mother and brother, who suffer the loss of a beloved son and brother, we extend our sincere condolences. Out of town relatives in attendances at the services were: F.E. Bell, Emma and Sadie Bell, uncle and aunts of the deceased and a cousin Mrs. Glen Carty, all of Earlville, Ia. Friends from Council Bluffs and Des Moines, Ia., as well as Norfolk, Fullerton, Elgin, Neligh, Gothenburg, and Page, Nebr., were also present at the obsequies.
