He graduated from Hooper High School in 1940. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines and later worked for Lockheed International in San Diego, Calif. He married Lucille Ryder in 1942, in Omaha, Neb. Read More	Bio information was taken from the Norfolk Daily News, Monday, May 7, 2001. Wesley Sohl was born Sept. 24, 1921, at Elmwood, Neb., to the Rev. E.H. and Mary (Meyer) Sohl. He graduated from Hooper High School in 1940. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines and later worked for Lockheed International in San Diego, Calif. He married Lucille Ryder in 1942, in Omaha, Neb. They moved to Hoskins, Neb., where he farmed. He moved to Norfolk in 1952 and started working for Bankers Life Nebraska and was general agent until he retired in 1985. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Norfolk; Rotary Club, the American Legion, VFW, Elks Lodge, Life Underwriter's Association, Masonic Lodge, Sesostris Temple of Lincoln, Royal Order of the Jesters, Shrine Oriental Band, NEN Shrine Club and an honorary 33 degree Scottish Rite. He was past chairman of the Shrine Circus and organized the Shriner's Clinic in Norfolk to assist children in need of services at the Shrine Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. He was past worthy patron of the Order of Eastern Star, Past Associate Guardian of Job's Daughters Bethel No. 17 and helped start the Order of Demolay in Norfolk. He served on the SID Board in Kohles Acres in Crofton, Neb., and taught wood refinishing classes at Northeast Community College. He is survived by five daughters: Jan (DeWayne) Noelle, Norfolk; Sandie (Dennis) Reichenberg, Lincoln, Neb.; Carole Verges, Norfolk; Pat (Tom) Niewehner, Jefferson; Jayne (Jim) Mangels, Norfolk; one son, Bill Sohl, Yankton; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, an infant son, a grandson, four brothers and two sisters.
