A 2:00 p.m. funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Mayodan with Rev. Torrey Easler officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, February 7, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Ray Funeral Home. For safety, face coverings are recommended. Jimmy was born in Rockingham County on November 9, 1935, to the late Wesley H., Sr., and Elma Crews Joyce. After High School, he served in the United States Army. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Mayodan where he taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, played softball, and helped umpire for games. Jimmy loved making stew and was called the "Stew Master". He loved gardening, bowling, boxing, and the UNC Tar Heels. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Carter Joyce, and his brother, Billy R. Joyce. Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Dwayne Joyce (Debbie) of Mayodan, Keith Joyce (Lori) of Mayodan, and Britt Joyce (Shannon) of Kannapolis; his brother, Herman Joyce (Lea) of Greensboro; two grandchildren, Andrew Handy (Brittany) and Preston Joyce; and one great-grandchild, Alaia Handy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Mayodan, 101 S. 1st Ave, Mayodan, NC 27027.
