He was born Jan. 17, 1913, in Nauvoo, Ill., to Charles August and Charlotte Wyatt Jaster. He married Helen Bulten on Dec. 9, 1930, in Bloomfield. A resident of Ottumwa most of his life, he had been an employee of John Morrell and Company for 36 years before the plant closed in 1973. He was born Jan. 17, 1913, in Nauvoo, Ill., to Charles August and Charlotte Wyatt Jaster. He married Helen Bulten on Dec. 9, 1930, in Bloomfield. He then became an employee of Ottumwa Heights College and Shaw Photo. He was a member of Ottumwa Baptist Temple and John Morrell Retirees. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Shirley Jackson of Urbana, Ohio, and Betty Short of Ottumwa; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Charles; three brothers, Charles, John and Bill Jaster and two sisters, Alta Bergmeier and Elsie Mitchell. The service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, the Rev. A.D. Pringle officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery in Ottumwa. Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday. Pallbearers will be Steve Jackson, Darrell Inman, Steve Graves, Bill Brown and Andy and Pat Short.
