Description	:	WESLEY WILSON 1846-1930 CO I 53RD IND Dr. Wesley Wilson is a native of Grayson County, KY. The second in a family of six children. His mother died when he was ten years old and his father died 4 years later. Wesley was then sent to live with his Uncle Henry McKinney, of Richland Co. Where he was raised and educated. 2-24-1862 he enlisted as a musician in the 53 Indiana Volunteer Infantry, and served in that capacity until 8-5-1865 when he was honorably discharged at Indianapolis IN. The second in a family of six children. His mother died when he was ten years old and his father died 4 years later. Wesley was then sent to live with his Uncle Henry McKinney, of Richland Co. Where he was raised and educated. 2-24-1862 he enlisted as a musician in the 53 Indiana Volunteer Infantry, and served in that capacity until 8-5-1865 when he was honorably discharged at Indianapolis IN. He was with General Grant to Shilo until the seige and evacuation of Corinth, at the surrender of Vicksburg and with General Sherman at Atlanta and in his march to the sea. After his return from the war he engaged in business at Richland in company with Joshua McKinney and afterward went into partnership with Michael Wilhelmus, and continued the business there with different parties until 1870, when he commenced the study of medicine, which he pursued for three years , during that time attending the Indiana Medical College at Indianapolis, and graduating from that Institution Feb. 26, 1873. In March of that year he located at Yankeetown, where he has since resided, having quite a successful and lucrative practice. January 3, 1867, his marriage with SARAH SHOPTAUGH was solemnized, and they were the parents of four children, three now living: IDA, DALTON and PINA. Mrs. Wilson is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Dr. Wilson is a member of the Masonic fraternity of Yankeetown Lodge, No. 446 and a staunch Republican in politics. He practiced Medicine in Warrick Co Indiana for 35 years before his death. His son Dalton was killed in the Walker Hospital Explosion in Evansville in 1929.
