A resident of the State Veterans Home, Hot Springs, and a former Huronian, Peterson died Wednesday at Huron. The service will be conducted by the Rev. John Oliver and the Odd Fellows Lodge with military rite at Riverside Cemetery by the World War I Barracks. Pallbearers will be Elmer Norquist, Ed Fessler, S.M. Born Dec. 13, 1895, to Carolus and Minnie Peterson at Worthington, Minn., Peterson moved to Sioux City in 1905 and 1907 homesteaded at Highmore. He married Genenieve Sand, Dec. 19, 1926. He moved to Huron in 1938 and was employed at Armour's from 1943-51. He was custodian at the IOOF Building until his retirement in 1964. He married Margie Mae Chapin, June 14, 1957. Peterson served in the 78th Balloon Co. in the Signal Corps in France in World War I. He was a member of Church of Christ-Christian, IOOF Lodge, Star Encampment No. 10, past captain of Huron Canton, past commander World War I Barracks, past Department chaplain WWI Barracks, memeber of American Balloon Corps Veterans Association and South Dakota Coin and Stamp Association. Survivors include his widow Margie Mae, Hot Springs; one son Carlisle, Huron; three daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Rosella) Anderson, Akron, Iowa; Mrs Everett (Lillian) Fox, Havana, Ill.; Mrs. Thomas (Bonita) Flolo, Huron; 13 grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, Stanley, Highmore.
