He had been in failing health the past month with a heart ailment and was hospitalized the day preceding his death. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at Hengstler's Chapel with the Rev. Richard T. Hartshorn, minister of the Congregational-Baptist Church, officiating. Wright, Clifford Largen, Wm. A. Dow, Lawrence Condon and Al Marquardt. Business places here were closed during the service. Wid L. Turner was born at Pleasent Hill on Feb. 3, 1883 to William L. and Margery Turner. He moved to Creighton when a small child. He was graduated from Creighton High School in 1901 and attended the Omaha School of Pharmacy. For many years he was associated with his father in the pharmacy and jewelry business. He retired from active business in 1942. Mr. Turner was elected president of the American National Bank (originally the Bank of Creighton) on Dec 20, 1930. The bank opened for business four days later. He was a supporter of community activities, serving as city clerk for 25 years, a charter member of the Chamber of Commerce and a long time member of Lundberg Memorial Hospital board of directors. On April 17, 1918, he was united in marriage to Lydia I. Lafarge at Sioux City, Iowa. She survives him as do one step daughter, Mrs. Phil Jundt of Creighton, three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. His parents and one sister, Mrs. Edith Goodell preceded him in death.
