Description	:	Wilbur Luther Lewis, 82, resident of Villisca and vicinity most of the 82 years of his life, died Sunday, May 27, at 7 pm at his home here after an extended illness. At the age of five years he came to Villisca with his parents, Mr and Mrs James Lewis, and family, and with the exception of eight years in South Dakota he spent the remainder of his life here. Read More	Wilbur Luther Lewis, 82, resident of Villisca and vicinity most of the 82 years of his life, died Sunday, May 27, at 7 pm at his home here after an extended illness. At the age of five years he came to Villisca with his parents, Mr and Mrs James Lewis, and family, and with the exception of eight years in South Dakota he spent the remainder of his life here. March 29, 1891, he was united in marriage with Dora Murphy, and to them were born nine children, three of whom died in infancy. Those living are Mrs Zella Gustafson, Dallas, S.D., Mrs Mabel Cozad, Omaha, Ernest, Fred and Clyde of Villisca and Roy of Corning. His wife preceded him in death March 29, 1911. He was married Aug 26, 1913, to Miss Stella Scholey of Villisca and she and his six children survive him, as do also his brother Elas of Villisca, 20 grandchildren, nine greatgrandchildren and other relatives and friends. He was affiliated with the Methodist church. All of Mr Lewis' children were with him at the time of his death, with the exception of Fred who is on a trip to New Mexico. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:30 pm at the Wolfe funeral home, conducted by the Rev L.H. Athey. The singing was by Cecil Weaver, accompanied by Mrs Frances Wheeler, and the flower bearers, granddaughters of the deceased, were Mrs Harvey Lantz, Mrs Glen Ten Eyck and Miss Betty Lewis. Pallbearers were Fred Lewis, Wade Scholey, Orville Marsh, Willis Marvick, Glen Hazelton and T.E. Nisely, and interment was in the Villisca [sic, North Grove] cemetery. Here from a distance to attend the funeral, in addition to the children, were Mr and Mrs B.G. Williams, Bondurant, Ia.; Mr and Mrs Joe Paine, Oakland, Calif.; Mr and Mrs Harvey Lantz, and Mr and Mrs Everett Cozad, Omaha. VILLISCA REVIEW, Villisca, Iowa, May 31, 1951
