Description	:	Wilbert Hohndorf, 85, of Shelby, Nebraska, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Creighton Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska. Funeral service will be Friday, August 2, at 10:00 AM at Faith Lutheran Church in Rising City, Nebraska, with Rev. Dave Schultz officiating. Interment will be in Faith West Cemetery, rural Rising City. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Friday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church. Memorials are to be directed to Faith Lutheran Church or the donor's choice. Wilbert Hohndorf was born June 13, 1928, in Butler County, Nebraska, to Louis and Helen (Berglund) Hohndorf. He attended Polk County District 18 Grade School. He entered the United States Army on February 8, 1951, and was discharged under honorable conditions on February 27, 1952. On March 24, 1952, Wilbert married Eleanora Prigge at Zion Lutheran Church in Garrison, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Butler County where Wilbert farmed, and enjoyed raising cattle and horses. He estimates that he has ridden over 8000 miles by horse. Over the years, Wilbert collected 100's of horse bits. Wilbert and Eleanora enjoyed traveling, especially to his trips to the "B Company 321st Signal Battalion" reunions. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Rising City. Wilbert is survived by: Wife – Eleanora Hohndorf of Columbus, NE Son – Clint Hohndorf of Rising City, NE Daughter – Marilyn (Steve) Davies of Stromsburg, NE Grandson – Joel Davies of Lincoln, NE Grandson – Seth Davies of Ft. Collins, CO Wilbert was preceded in death by: Parents – Louis and Helen Hohndorf Son – Steven Hohndorf Brothers – Alvin and Leslie Hohndorf Sister – Hilda Clobes
