Mr. Simmons was born October 13, 1916 in Wallace, Nebraska to Walter and Naomi (Lapp) Simmons. He attended Wilson High School in Cherokee. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe. On September 4, 1940 he married Edna Rupp in Cherokee. He worked as a mechanic for Brown's Chevrolet, Cherokee, for many years, retiring in 1981. Survivors include: one son, Gary Simmons, Cherokee; one daughter, Margaret Clifton and her husband Billy, Papillion, Nebraska; one grandson and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife on November 5, 1993 and a brother, Elgin. Memorials are requested to the American Cancer Society .
