The son of Ralph and Ethel Vaughn Foster, he was born at Grinnell on April 27th, 1916. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Oskaloosa Elks Lodge No. 340, and the First Congregational church. For several years Mr. Foster and his wife managed the operations of a country club, but he was more recently employed at Productive Acres Mfg. Co. in Oskaloosa. He is survived by his wife, Vivian Worthy Foster; a daughter, Mrs. Britt (Phyllis) Podhajsky of Iowa City; three sons, Bill Jr. in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam, and David and Dale at home; three sisters, Mrs. Carl (Doris) Binegar of Grinnell, Mrs. Lawrence (Clara) Wallis of Grinnell, and Mrs. Ed (Edna) Erickson of Marshalltown; and two brothers, Orville of Newton and Bennie of Fairfield.
