Read More	Veteran Korea ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Collision Kills Two Men A grinding head-on collision between a pickup and a passenger car about 11:30 Friday night resulted in the death of two men. Killed instantly in the crash were Wilbur Davis, 41 year old resident of Carlton township, driver of the pickup, and Harold E. Marshall, 26, of Camarilla, Calif., driver of the car. The accident occurred on Highway 14 in the vicinity of East Third Street. Marshall was coming from the east, and Davis was approaching from the west. Some difficulty was experienced by investigating officers in determining the identity of the California man, as no identification was found on his person. Later a slip of paper with the name of the city was found in the trunk of his car, and from this officers traced the man. He had been called to Huron by the illness of his father, and it is believed he was on his way back to California, and may have fallen asleep while driving. Lack of skid marks indicated that he had swerved into the wrong lane. Davis, it was reported, was on his way home from Chamberlain, where he had been working on the interstate. Both men were married and had families. Funeral services for Mr. Davis were held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Reck Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard Trotter officiating. Burial was made in the GAR Cemetery, with a military service at the graveside. Pallbearers were Glenn Nicholas, Lester Hargens, Robert DeGeest, Heine Kyburz, Mel Fisher and Arnold Kerber. Davis was born August 9, 1930 at HIghmore, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Davis, and spent practically all his life in Carlton township, where he farmed and also worked on road construction. A veteran of the Korean War, he served with the Marine Corps for two years. He is survived by his wife, Elaine, to whom he was married December 21, 1956; four daughters, Tracy, June, Jean and Audrey, and one son, Willis; his parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Ervin Davis of Rockham; two sisters, Mrs. Marvin Becker of Rockham and Mrs. Ronald Williams, St. Lawrence, and two brothers, Jim, Rockham, and Daryl, Redfield. Funeral services for Marshall were held Monday evening at 8 o'clock at the Reck Funeral Home. The Rev. Roger Thomas of Hitchcock officiated at the rites, and the body was taken to Oxnard, Calif., for burial. He was born January 5, 1946, and at one time lived in the Bonilla-Hitchcock vicinity, and attended school at Bonilla. Surviving are his wife and three small children.
