She was born in Tipton, Indiana, on July 15, 1920, a daughter of the late Lester Guy and Martha (Hinkle) Orr. Raised in Kempton, Indiana, Jean was a 1938 graduate of Kempton High School and a 1939 graduate of Beauty School. On April 12, 1947, she was married to Harold W. Unger, in Tipton, Indiana. Mr. Unger preceded her in death on October 19, 1993. She was a longtime resident of Lebanon where she owned and operated a beauty shop. Jean also managed the Lebanon Dairy Queen for 33 years. She was a member of the Christian Church in Kempton and the Central Mission Church in Lebanon where she was very active. While in Lebanon, Jean was also a member of the Eastern Star and Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority. She enjoyed taking walks, traveling, watching sports, reading and playing cards. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and loved her family dearly. Funeral services are planned for Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Central Christian Church, 311 East Main Street, in Lebanon, Indiana, with Rev. Brad Miller, officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church in Lebanon. Interment will follow services at Kempton Cemetery, in Kempton, Indiana. Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana, is handling the arrangements. Survivors: Two Daughters: Denise G. Beck -- Greenwood, Indiana Tonalea G. Schmidt and husband, Robert -- Fort Smith, Arkansas Four Grandchildren: Jason T. Beck and wife, Sarah Shore Beck -- Fishers, Indiana Vanessa B. Pingul and husband, Ron -- Greenwood, Indiana Taylor Schmidt -- Fort Smith, Arkansas Connor Schmidt -- Fort Smith, Arkansas Great Grandchild -- Mila Pingul Sister: Martha Hawkins -- Tipton, Indiana Deceased: In addition to her parents and her husband, Jean was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Freeman; two brothers-in-law, Robert Hawkins and John Freeman; and a son-in-law, Eric Beck.
