Christman, 71, retired clothing retailer, died Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock at the Wabash County hosptial following a stroke suffered a week ago. He had been in failing health for some time. Read More	OBITUARY - Plain Dealer, Wabash (IN) RETIRED RETAILER OF WABASH DIES AT HOSPITAL Wilford J. Christman, 71, retired clothing retailer, died Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock at the Wabash County hosptial following a stroke suffered a week ago. He had been in failing health for some time. For a number of years Mr. Christman, a life resident of Wabash, was in the clothing business with his father, John Christman, and later was associated in the business with his brother, Thomas E. Christman. They retired from the clothing business in 1926. For the past year Mr. Christman had been manager of the Package Liquor store in Wabash. He was a former member of the Modern Woodmen and had acted as clerk. The son of John and Mary Christman, he was born in Wabash on Aug. 25, 1868. On March 6, 1891 he was married to Eva McClin of Huntington. No children were born to this union. Mr. Christman is survived by his widow, Eva McClin Christman, 445 West Hill Street; two brothers, Thomas E. Christman, Wabash Postmaster, and Otto Christman of Indianapolis; a nephew, Dr. Ross C. Martin of San Bernardino, Calif.; and an aunt, Mrs. Ella Hill, Lafayette. Two brothers, Charles and Frank Christman, died in 1907; another brother, Fred Christman in 1922, and a sister, Iva Martin, wife of Dr. W.H. Martin of Kokomo, in 1936. The body was taken to the Jones Funeral home and will remain there until services at the funeral home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Following the service the body will be taken to Fort Wayne for cremation.
