Description	:	Wilfred J. Schulte, age 78, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2006, at his home at Watertown. Mr. Schulte had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in May of 2005. Wilfred Joseph Schulte, the son of Herman and Martha (Wensing) Schulte was born on February 23, 1928 in Watertown, South Dakota. He attended Immaculate Conception School and Watertown High School graduating from Watertown in 1945. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and served during the Korean War. Schulte, age 78, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2006, at his home at Watertown. Mr. Schulte had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in May of 2005. Wilfred Joseph Schulte, the son of Herman and Martha (Wensing) Schulte was born on February 23, 1928 in Watertown, South Dakota. He attended Immaculate Conception School and Watertown High School graduating from Watertown in 1945. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and served during the Korean War. On June 28, 1952 he married Marilyn Ann McCullough at Watertown. Wilfred was honorably discharged on February 5, 1955 in Topeka, Kansas and received the National Defense Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Wilfred was employed as a Route Driver for Metz Baking Company for 33 years. He retired in 1990. He was one of the founding members of Holy Name Parish, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 31 years. His passions were his family, playing cards, dancing and golfing. Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Loretta Lantgen and Rita Evans. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, five daughters, Gina (Tom Diehl) of Mahtomedi, MN, Theresa (Jim Flynn) of Lino Lakes, MN, Kathy (Eric Turbak) of Kranzburg, Janet Crocker of Clear Lake, SD, and Patty (John Sneden) of Huron, SD; three sons, Ron (Gay) of Centerville, VA, Dan (Jolene) of Lincoln, NE, Gerry (Ellyn) of Oconomowoc, WI; one sister Rosy (Milo Junso) of Watertown; 30 grandchildren; one great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at the Holy Name Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Mike Wensing officiating. The Codington County Post 17 of the American Legion conducted military honors. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Watertown, SD Arrangements by Wight, Comes & Sogn Funeral Chapel.
