Description	:	Wilhelm D. Kater Wilhelm David Kater; 81 year old retired farmer, died Tuesday evening at Bethel Deaconess Hospital. He had been in ill health for several years. Mr. Kater resided with a daughter, Mrs. (Hilda) Arrowsmith, of 418 E. 2nd. He was born June 15, 1877 in Baumgarten, Germany and was married Sept. 25, 1903 in Dusseldorf, Germany to Johanna Jackel. Mr. & Mrs. Kater came to the United State in 1909 and settled in the Newton vicinity. He retired from farming several years ago because of ill health. Mrs. Kater died Oct. 30 this year. He had been in ill health for several years. Mr. Kater resided with a daughter, Mrs. (Hilda) Arrowsmith, of 418 E. 2nd. He was born June 15, 1877 in Baumgarten, Germany and was married Sept. 25, 1903 in Dusseldorf, Germany to Johanna Jackel. Mr. & Mrs. Kater came to the United State in 1909 and settled in the Newton vicinity. He retired from farming several years ago because of ill health. Mrs. Kater died Oct. 30 this year. They had celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary last September. Mr. Kater was a member of the Congregational - Evangelical and Reformed Church. In addition to Mrs. Arrowsmith, he is survived by two other daughters, Mrs Carl (Emma) Wunderlich of Piedmont, Kas., Mrs. Alva (Erna) Lafferty of Emporia; three sons; William Jr., of Newton and Otto and Henry of Sedgwick; 23 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2: p.m. at the Draper's Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Alfred H. Bartter will officiate and burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
