Description	:	Wilhelm Heinrich Christian Stampe was born December 9, 1853 in Burg, Fehmarn, Germany to Johann and Anna (Heick) Stampe. He died of acute intestinal obstruction on Monday, October 20, 1919 at his home near Bloomfield, NE., after a brief illness of but one day, at the age of 65 years, 10 months and 11 days. The remains were brought to Schleswig for burial, arriving here by way of Ida Grove on Wednesday evening and the funeral was held Thursday afternoon from Friedens church with the Rev. W. R. Read More	Wilhelm Heinrich Christian Stampe was born December 9, 1853 in Burg, Fehmarn, Germany to Johann and Anna (Heick) Stampe. He died of acute intestinal obstruction on Monday, October 20, 1919 at his home near Bloomfield, NE., after a brief illness of but one day, at the age of 65 years, 10 months and 11 days. The remains were brought to Schleswig for burial, arriving here by way of Ida Grove on Wednesday evening and the funeral was held Thursday afternoon from Friedens church with the Rev. W. R. Wetzeler officiating. Interment was made in Morgan Cemetery beside his wife who departed this life in 1898. Mr. Stampe came to this country when a young man and settled first in Cammanche, IA., in 1874. Here he remained until 1878, when he moved to Crawford county, where he began farming. He was united in marriage to Katherina Jensen on September 5, 1882 and to this union were born eight children, of whom one died in infancy and a daughter in 1918. The children left to survive this good father are three sons, Henry, Frederick and Gustave Stampe; and three daughters, Elizabeth Stampe, Mrs. Kurt (Meta) Scheer and Mrs. Oscar (Adelia) Erickson, all of Bloomfield, NE. Mr. Stampe farmed in this vicinity until 1894, when he moved to South Dakota. He did not like it there, so came back a few years later and spent several years here on the farm. About six years ago he left for Nebraska, where he has since resided. He retired from active life about seven years ago and had made his home with his children at Bloomfield, NE. He leaves to mourn his death besides his six children, three brothers, Gustav Stampe of Clinton, IA., Adolph Stampe of Germany and Peter Stampe of Preston, IA.; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Miller of New York and Mrs. Henry (Meta) Roenfeldt of Clinton, IA.; and 13 grandchildren. Besides his wife, one son and one daughter, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister and one half brother. Mr. Stampe was a hard working, industrious man, full of energy and perseverance and a kind and loving father.
