Ernest Welsch sang accompanied by Mrs. Lester McConnell on the organ. A son of the late Mr and Mrs George Fette, he was born August 29, 1869 in Herringsen Westphalia, Germany. There he attended elementary school and was baptized and confirmed. In the spring of 1884, at the age of 14 years, together with his mother, brothers and sister, he came to the United States. During their first two years in this country they operated a farm near Dorchester. His mother then bought the farm south of the West Blue Evangelical and Reformed Church which is now being operated by his son Paul. On February 18, 1897 he was married to Mary Wickenkamp. He then bought his mothers farm which he operated till his retirement in 1943. For the last seven years he resided with his son in law and daughter, Mr and Mrs Buettgenbach of Crete. During the entire period of his life in the United States he was a member of West Blue Evangelical and Reformed Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias and a social member of the Sons of Herman. Survivors are 1 brother D. G. of Dorchester, four sons, William G of Milford, Ernest, Herbert and Paul of Crete, four daughters, Hertha Buettgenbach of Crete, Irma Hedlund of Valparaiso, Elsie Stoner and Marie Prochaska both of San Diego California. Nine grandchildren also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Mary on November 5, 1950, one brother George and one sister Lena Meyer. Four children died in infancy. Among those from out of town who came to attend funeral services were his daughters, Mrs. Paul Stoner of San Diego, California, Chief Warrant Officer and Mrs. Joseph Prochaska and daughter Kathleen of National City, California, Ernest Meyer Sr. and Mr and Mrs Ernest Meyer Jr. of Munden, Kansas, Mr and Mrs Herbert Elrod of Franklin, Mr and Mrs Victor Fette of McCook, Mr and Mrs Harry Wickenkamp, Mr and Mrs Emil Jochim, Mrs. Pauline Wilhelm, Harry Schwartz, Mrs. John Lehal, Mr and Mrs Dan Jones, Mrs Fern LaDuke and sons of Lincoln and Mr and Mrs Alvin Jochim of Fort Dodge, Iowa.
