Zepf, nee Wilhelmina Koltermann, was born on October 30, 1848 in Stettine, Pommern, Germany. Together, with other friends, she immigrated to America in the Year 1872 and settled with a brother at Pierce, Nebraska. On June 1, 1874, she was united in holy wedlock to S.Zepf. The union was visibly blessed by two sons and four daughters, who are all living. The deceased was the last of her generation, her brothers and sisters, all having preceded her in death. On May 29, she suffered a stroke of paralysis and after a lingering illness answered God's summons on Monday, June 16. The days of her earthly pilgrimage were 75 years, 7 months and 16 days. Mrs. Zepf held membership in the Zion's Evangelical Lutheran church for a goodly number of years and lived a life of deep and abiding faith. The surviving children left to mourn her loss are Mrs. Paul Smith, Belden, Nebr.; Mrs. H.P. Stoltenberg, Carroll, Nebr.; Mrs. C. Schauppner, Plainview, Nebr.; Mrs. J.P. Jundt, Creighton; W.A. Zepf, Monowi, Nebr. and C.H. Zepf, Creighton. Mrs. Zepf was conspicuous for her sincerity of friendship and was recognized as a counselor among neighbors, a friend on every occasion, a trusted wife and a faithful patient mother. She was a lady of many rare qualities and who always exercised charity and made allowance for weak humanity. Above all, a noble woman, with a hopeful, happy disposition, an even temperment and a natural born leader. Funeral services were held on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. from the Lutheran church, conducted by Rev. Obermeyer and a very large concourse of friends attended, thereby attesting their sincerity of friendship on this final occasion in paying their respect to the deceased. The Zepf children were Will, Emma, Charles, Rose, Martha and Anna. "When Dad first operated his store, he was a bachelor. In the meantime my mother came from Germany and settled with her brother at Pierce, Nebraska.
