Tuesday, December 13, 1932, at the age of 75 years, 1 month & 25 days. Minnie (Keller) was born at Mayville, Wisconsin, Oct. 20, 1857, & when she was 3 years old, her mother passed to the 'Great Beyond' & her father enlisted in the Union army & served during the Civil War. Minnie Keller spent her childhood & young womanhood in Wisconsin with friends, the George Adams family, until Dec. 29, 1874, when at the age of 17 years, she was united in marriage to Charles Friedrick "Karl" Sette at Lowell, Dodge Co., WI. Two years later she came with her husband & baby to Kansas & lived in Barton county, north of Great Bend for about 6 months, then another child was born. The family then moved to Rush county to a homestead near where Bison now stands. There Mr. & Mrs. Sette endured all of the hardships of pioneer life in a sod house for about 8 years, during which time 4 children were born, one dying at the age of about 6 months. They returned to Barton county in 1886 & located on a farm two miles NW of where Hoisington now stands, where they lived for 36 years, until the death of Mr. Sette in 1922. During this 36 years, 8 children were born, one dying at the age of about 8 years. After the death of Mr. Sette, Mrs. Sette moved with her daughter, Mae, to Hoisington where they lived for about 5 years. After the marriage of her daughter, her youngest son moved to her home in Hoisington & lived with her for about 1 year & since that time Mrs. Sette made her home with her daughter, Mae. Mrs. Sette united with the Methodist Church when quite young & retained her membership throughout life. During the past 11 years she was an invalid due to a stroke of paralysis in January 1922 while visiting her daughters at Bison. She was one of the staunch & highly respected pioneer citizens of this community, loved by many & was a kind & affectionate mother to 14 children, 12 of whom survive. Mrs. Sette leaves to mourn her death, one sister, Mrs. Mary Shettler of Beaver Dam, WI., 8 children; Mrs. Emma Appl of Great Bend; Mrs. Martha & Mrs. Leona Seuser of Bison; Mrs. Dora Kraft of Kansas City, Mo, Mrs. Lottie Eveleigh of Boyd; Mrs. Fannie Hamlet of Hutchinson; Mrs. Mae Bell & Mrs. Anna Durrand of Hoisington; 4 sons, Ben, Phillip & Gilbert Sette of Belpre and Karl Sette of Hoisington and a host of grandchildren & great-grandchildren & many sorrowing friends. Funeral services will be held this afternoon, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m., at the Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Conn & the remains will be laid to rest beside those of her husband in the Hoisington Cemetery. *Wilhelmina & Charles Sette's WI marriage registration shows: Charles F. Sette; farmer; born in Germany Wife's name previous to this marriage; "Minnia Koehler" Father of said wife; "William Koehler" Mother of said wife; "Mena Koehler" Their 14 children: Emma Emilie Louise, Carolina Wilhelmine, Martha Marie, Benjamin Franklin, Franziska Rosina, Phillip Arthur, Charlotte Sophie, Dorothea Elisabeth, Lillie Amanda, Gilbert Henry, Verena Arustina, Marie Augusta, Anna Helene, Karl Fredrick Sette. 1870 Census of Clyman, Dodge Co, Wisconsin, shows Minnie Keller as a "domestic servant" in the George Adam household.
