Copen, Sr., 71, of Dennison, a former Barberton resident, died early today in Citizens Hospital after a short illness. Mr. Copen worked 15 years in the shipping and receiving department at Firestone. He was an associate member of Barberton VFW. Born in Elizabeth, W. Va., Mr. Copen lived in Barberton 60 years before moving to Dennison. He leaves his wife, Dorothy L.; sons, William A. Jr., Nashville, Tenn., Charles R., Copley, and Floyd Thomas, Norton; daughters, Mrs. James Bartram, Barberton, Mrs. Marvin Golden, Dennison, and Mrs. William Cross, Elyria; 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brother, Brice, Barberton; sisters, Mrs. Alice Frey, Akron and Mrs. Nora Winters, Barberton. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Campfield-Hickman funeral home where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday until the time of services. Burial will be in Byer cemetery.
