Born in Quebec Mr. McLean was born in Dewitville, Quebec, June 2,1859. At the age of 19 he came to the United States going first to the State of Texas. From there after a trip home, he went to California in 1882. He came to the state of Washington in 1886 to the Palouse country and in 1887 he brought a herd of cattle to his home southwest of Bridgeport. He later was a business partner of Herman Cornehl in Bridgeport and sold his interest to J. B. Valentine. He was married to Grace Nixon, December 13, 1898 in Spokane. Mrs. McLean died in 1917. He is survived by two sons, Capt. Franklin A McLean of Sacramento, California, and Walter B. McLean of Mansfield; one sister, Mrs. Agnes M. Stewart of Montreal, Canada; and four grandchildren. A son, Robert Bruce, died in 1918. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and Grange No. 883.
