Description	:	Walter McLean, 80, a lifetime resident of the Mansfield area and former Douglas County PUD commissioner, died Tuesday, May 4, in Central Washington Hospital. Born March 11, 1902, on a homestead on Dyer Hill, he made his home there and attended Knemeyer School. On July 1, 1925, he married Winnie Smith in Okanogan. Read More	Walter McLean, 80, a lifetime resident of the Mansfield area and former Douglas County PUD commissioner, died Tuesday, May 4, in Central Washington Hospital. Born March 11, 1902, on a homestead on Dyer Hill, he made his home there and attended Knemeyer School. On July 1, 1925, he married Winnie Smith in Okanogan. Mr. McLean was a wheat and cattle rancher on the farm near Mansfield his father homesteaded in 1886. He was named Cattleman of the Year on 1967. In 1942 the family moved to East Wenatchee and in 1960 he returned to the ranch. He farmed until 1977 when he retired and moved to Mansfield. In 1981 he returned to Wenatchee and had since made his home there. He was a life member of the Presbyterian church and a charter member and Elder in the Eastmont Presbyterian Church. He was a member and past master of Mansfield Lodge No. 215, F&AM., was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of Mansfield Chapter No. 162, Order of the Easter Star and a member of both the Mansfield and East Wenatchee Granges and was a 50-year member of the National Grange. Mr. McLean was a member of the Mansfield Pioneer Club, Douglas County Cattlemen's Association, Washington Association of Wheat Growers, was a charter member and director of the Mansfield and Wenatchee Grange Supply, served as commissioner of the Douglas County PUD and was an active member of the Soil Conservation District. Survivors include his wife, Winnie, at home; one son, Alex McLean, Mansfield; two daughters, Grace Lester, Wenatchee and Mae Hamilton, Leavenworth; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Funeral service were conducted in the Eastmont Presbyterian Church Friday morning at 10 o'clock. The Reverend Herbert Schulze and the Reverend Charles Strawn officiated. Memorials in his name may be made to the Eastmont Presbyterian Church Herb Schulze Retreat Center or the Mansfield Ambulance Fund. Interment in the Bridgeport Cemetery with Mansfield Lodge No. 215, F&AM in charge. Arrangements by the Jones & Jones Funeral Home.
