Description	:	W. A. Elder William Alexander Elder, son of A. J. and Marcia Jane Elder was born in Ohio* April 22, 1863 and departed this life at his home in Unionville, Iowa February 26, 1949 at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 4 days. He had been in poor health for some years and bore it patiently yet he often expressed his desire to be called home. He was united in marriage on September 4, 1884 at Bloomfield, Iowa to Miss Minnie Brown who has been his constant companion during his ailing years. He was united in marriage on September 4, 1884 at Bloomfield, Iowa to Miss Minnie Brown who has been his constant companion during his ailing years. Besides his wife he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. H. T. Phillips of Yakima, Washington, Mrs. C. A. Hoffman, Los Angeles, California, Mrs. C. C. Chatterton, Ottumwa, Iowa who has spent many months caring for her parents in their home, and Mrs. O. R. Roberts of Corwith, Iowa. He is survived by three sons, Riley of Unionville, Ray and Willis of Decker, Montana. An infant daughter preceded him in death. There are 19 living grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. One grandson, Ralph Elder gave his life in the service of his country in 1944. Mr. Elder was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, George, Robert and Benjamin and three sisters, Mrs. Lucia Shepherd, Mrs. Clara Maines and Mrs. Ella Commons Garnett. In you manhood he accepted his Savior and many years later united with the Pleasant Hill Christian church. From Bloomfield Democrat March 24, 1949 * Alexander Johnson Elder and family moved to Iowa in late 1859 or early 1860. Sister Clarissa was the last sibling born in Ohio.
