McFarland was born October 7, 1851, in Hancock county, Missouri, and died at his home in Albion, Thursday, October 5, 1944, at the age of 92 years, 11 months and 28 days. Burial was made in Rose Hill cemetery. W. A. McFarland was born October 7, 1851, in Hancock county, Missouri, and died at his home in Albion, Thursday, October 5, 1944, at the age of 92 years, 11 months and 28 days. He had been confined to his bed the past year and 9 months. He was united in marriage to Mary Thiel on March 20, 1876. The McFarlands came to Nebraska in 1901 and lived on a farm north of Albion until 1921, at which time they moved to Albion where they made their home since then. He is survived by his wife, Mary, and by five daughters and one son: Mrs. W. R. Barnett of Albion, Mrs. J. E. Ogden of Albion, Mrs. Jim Stalnaker of Fullerton, Mrs. John Murphy of Albion, Mrs. Loran Stalker of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Albert McFarland of Albion. Three sons, Frank, Roy and Jess, preceded him in death. He had three brothers and one sister, all deceased. Nineteen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren also mourn his passing. Mr. McFarland was a kind and devoted husband and father and a good neighbor. (Albion Weekly News – Albion, Nebraska – October 12, 1944)
