He was the son of Jonathan and Elizabeth (Hull) Souders, and was born September 9, 1852 in Maryland. He was the son of Jonathan and Elizabeth (Hull) Souders, and was born September 9, 1852 in Maryland. Coming to Nebraska in 1872 they located on a farm south of Cook in Johnson county and lived there a number of years. He was married to Luella Alwilda Miller on April 15, 1880 at Tecumseh and four children were born to them. Three preceded their parents in death, Hubert, Clifford and Harry, but one daughter, Mrs. Frederick (Ruby) Dark of Wichita, Kansas survives. Mrs. Souders died in 1898, and Mr. Souders remarried and we do not have those paticulars. Mr. Souders of late years had lived in Tecumseh, but for awhile made his home in Lincoln with his half-sister, Mrs. Anna Shasteen. Six half-brothers and half-sisters survive him and are: Mrs Anna Shasteen of Lincoln; Mrs. Addie Rogers, Amarillo, Texas; A. H. Souders, San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Cora Bird, Lomax, N.C.; Lewis Souders, Blockton, Iowa; and Mrs. Clydia Mershon, Cook, Nebr. He was preceded in death by his first wife, three children, two brothers, Edward and John and his parents. Funeral services were held at the Cook cemetery Wednesday afternoon, in charge of Rev. James Custer of the Cook M. E. church. Interment was in the Cook cemetery.
