She suffered from heart trouble, the cause of her death. She was taken to a hospital for an operation to care for her broken hip bone on March 17, being bedfast since that time. She was a daughter of Jonathan and Jane Mullenix Souders, early settlers in Pennsylvania who came to Nebraska in 1872. She was born at Cook on September 13, 1873. She spent her early life near and in Cook except for three years in Franklin county during the first three years of her married life. She received her education in rural schools. She was married to Mr. Mershon at Cook on March 31, 1892. Three children were born to them. She was a member of the Methodist Church and W.S.C.S. She is survived by her husband at Cook; one daughter, Evelyn, wife of Carl Brown of Muskogee, Okla.; one son, Ralph Mershon of Cook; one sister, Mrs. Addie Rogers of Tulsa, Okla.; two brothers, Albert H. of San Diego, Calif., and Lou M. Souders of Blkockton, Iowa; two granddaughters, Mrs. Walter Mannschreck of Hubbell and Betty Lou Brown of Muskogee, Okla.; and four great grandchildren, Linda, Pamela, Penny and Debra Mannschreck.
