Description	:	DROWNED! Wm. A. Flesher, Late of Esbon. The unknown man found dead yesterday at Fruita, has been identified as William A. Flesher of Esbon, Kan. The deceased had been working for M.S. Sullivan for the past three weeks. His body was brought to this city last night and, under the escort of a committee of the lodge of Knights of Pythias, was taken to undertaker Whitehead's. The unknown man found dead yesterday at Fruita, has been identified as William A. Flesher of Esbon, Kan. The deceased had been working for M.S. Sullivan for the past three weeks. His body was brought to this city last night and, under the escort of a committee of the lodge of Knights of Pythias, was taken to undertaker Whitehead's. His brother, D.R. Flesher, arrived on the midnight train and took charge of the remains. Wm. A. Flesher, the deceased, was a man about 28 years old, formerly a teacher and lately editor of the Lebanon (Kan.) Journal. About four months ago, so states his brother, he decided to go on a tour of sight-seeing in Colorado, and had visited Manitou, Pike's Peak and other Rocky Mountain resorts. Monday last, on account of the breaking of machinery at Mr. Sullivan's ranch, he was laid off temporarily from his work and he decided to cross the river to view some scenery which had tempted him for some time. In the passage across the river and its treacherous current can be ascribed the cause of his untimely death. This afternoon the service for the dead was read in the castle hall of the Knights of Pythias and afterward his body, under escort of the members of the order, was moved to the Orchard Mesa cemetery, where the last service for the dead was performed by Rev. S.F. Dickinson. The deceased was a member of Esbon lodge No. 242, of Esbon, Kas., in good standing. At an inquest held this morning at Undertaker Whitehead's rooms, granted on application of the brother, D.R. Flesher, the following verdict was rendered: That the deceased, William A. Flesher, came to his death by accidental drowning while attempting to cross Grand River near the town of Fruita. – Grand Junction Col., Daily Star. Provided by Ray Flesher.
