Description	:	The remains of Mr. William A. Gathright, who died suddenly at his home in Goochland county last Wednesday, were buried in Louisa on Friday. He was a son of Dr. T. M. Gathright, of Louisa, and was widely known in Louisa, Hanover, Goochland and Richmond. Mr. Gathright was one of the most accomplished astronomical statisticians in the country, and for years had made the annual calculations for many of the leading almanacs. Mr. Gathright was one of the most accomplished astronomical statisticians in the country, and for years had made the annual calculations for many of the leading almanacs. He married Miss Herndon Perry, of Hanover county, who, with two children survive him. His brothers are T. Morton Garthright, of Covington, Va.; Carroll Gathright, of Goochland, Va.; Eldridge McG. Gathright, of New York, and his sisters, Mrs. Doctor Massie, of Louisa, and Misses Mary Heath and Janie Gathright of Goochland. Mr. Gathright had just purchased the beautiful estate "Plynlimmon," two miles from Maidens, in Goochland, a most hospitable Old Virginia home. His astronomical work will be carried on in the future by his sister, Miss Heath Gathright, who has been his assistant since her childhood. The Times-Dispatch, Tuesday, September 22, 1908. (Miss Herndon Perry, transcribed as published.) ------------ GATHRIGHT. - A death that has caused universal sorrow was that of Professor W. A. Gathright, who died suddenly of heart trouble at his home, "Plynlimmon," Goochland county, Va., on Wednesday, the 16th instant. He was the eldest son of Thomas M. and Mary G. Gathright, and was born at "Norvue," Louisa county, Va., August 30, 1870. At the early age of fourteen years he began the almanac work, which was left him by his great uncle, R. K. Bowles, of Louisa county. At that time he calculated for only one almanac, but owing to his untiring energy and brilliant mind, he had worked his business to such an oxtent that at the time of his death he was furnishing astronomical calculations for all of the most noted almanacs over the world. At the age of thirty-five he married Miss Herndon Terry, daughter of John J. Terry, of Hanover county, who, with two little girls, survive him, besides whom his parents, four sisters, Mrs. John Massie of Goochland; Mrs. William C. Smith, Pulaski, and Misses Heath and Jane Gathright, of Goochland, and three brothers, T. Morton, of Covington; C. A., of Goochland, and E. M., of New York. Professor Gathright's fine intellectuality, noble character and genial manner won for him a host of friends, who were grieved to hear of his untimely death.
