Read More	ANDREW MARSHALL DIED IN BALTIMORE WELL KNOWN SEAFOOD MAN BURIED MONDAY Mr. Andrew Marshall, one of Crisfield's most prominent businessmen, died in the Marine Hospital in Baltimore Friday of last week, at the age of 74. Mr. Marshall had been in failing health for several months, and had been undergoing treatment in the Baltimore Hospital for about two weeks. Best known as Captain Andrew, he was born on Smiths Island, the son of the late John W. and Mahalie Thomas Marshall, but he had lived in Crisfield for most of his life. In his youth Capt. Andrew followed the water for awhile, then he engaged in the seafood business for himself. For many years he was one of the largest packers of soft shell crabs and peelers in this area and also ran an oyster packing house in the winter season. For about 20 years he had been manager here of the oyster packing plant of E.M. Plitt, of Chicago, which was one of the largest in Crisfield in volume of oysters produced and shipped. When informed of Mr. Marshall's death, Mr. Plitt sent the following telegram to Mrs. Marshall and the family: "May I extend my deepest sympathy in your hours of sorrow. Surely I have lost one of my best friends and truly I have lost the man that made me successful in my business. Owing to my poor health I am unable to come east. Would you order in my memory one of the finest floral pieces money can buy and have the florist mail me bill for same." Capt. Andrew was a fine citizen, quiet, energetic, capable, interested in community affairs, a man of integrity and of great friendliness. He was a capable business executive, had an extensive knowledge of all angles of the seafood business, and his views on seafood matters were sound and constructive. He had many friends, not only in his own community, but among the waterman and others with whom he had dealings over the years, and he wad held in the highest regard and esteem by them, and by the community in general. Funeral services were held in the Bradshaw Funeral Parlors at 2.30 o'clock Monday afternoon, with Rev. Otis P. Jefferson, Rev. Robert E. Green, Rev. A. T. McFarland, Rev. W. T. Moorefield and Rev. Whalen officiating. Interment was in the Crisfield cemetery. Lovely floral pieces banking his casket and the presence of many relatives and friends were testimony of the affection in which he was held. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Effie Sterling Marshall, one son, Clinton Marshall, one daughter, Mrs. Leon Sterling, three sisters, Mrs. Agnes Hoffman, Mrs. Amy Matthews and Mrs. John Charnick, one brother, Traffic Officer Wells Marshall, and one grandchild, all of Crisfield.
