Stoldorf passed away unexpectedly at his home in Geneva, Neb., Saturday morning, December 6, 1958, at the age of 72 years, 5 months and 14 days. Mr. Stoldorf, although not in the best of health for some time, had worked as usual the day previous and seemed as well as usual. Mr. Stoldorf was born June 22, 1886, in Bennett township, Fillmore county, Nebraska. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. August Stoldorf, pioneer settlers. Mr. Stoldorf was united in marriage to Sylvia Shreffler, January 31, 1912. To this union were born two sons and one daughter, Harold of Geneva and Dean of Grafton and Hazel, Mrs. James Murray, of near Fairmont. The family continued to reside on the farm until August, 1947, when Mr. and Mrs. Stoldorf retired and moved to Geneva. Mr. Stoldorf for a number of years was an employee of the city of Geneva. In infancy William was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He later became a member of the first Methodist church in Geneva and was a regular attendant at its services. He was also a long time member of the Odd Fellow and Rebekah lodges. Besides his wife, Sylvia, and three children, Mr. Stoldorf is survived by five grandchildren, one brother, Lou C. Stoldorf of Lincoln and four sisters, Mrs. Annie Broderson, Mrs. Emma Alderman and Mrs. May Franzen of Geneva and Mrs. Lena Gergen of Lincoln. Mr. Stoldorf was a good husband, a loving father and a friend of many. He will be greatly missed by his relatives and a large circle of friends. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Monday, December 8, at first Methodist church in Geneva with Rev. A. B. Sears officiating. Ralph Reemts sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Beyond the sunset,” with Mrs. Willard Foster, organist. Pallbearers were William Lauenstein, Cecil Richards, Charles Moss, William A. Barnett, Dorsey Dudley and Harry Ward. The Odd Fellows, Rebekah’s and Geneva city officials attended in a body. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery with the Geneva Odd Fellow lodge conducting the graveside service. The Nebraska Signal December 11th, 1958 page 9.
