Description	:	My 2nd great grandfather William married first Margaret Potts at William's father, Martin Baker's home, by Samuel Wright on 19 May 1844 and they had three sons-- James Perry, Theodore F and Welcome Martin. After Margaret died in 1849 William married as his second wife Belinda Lindsay. They were married on 20 March 1850 at Cedar County, Iowa by William Simpson a Methodist minister. After Margaret died in 1849 William married as his second wife Belinda Lindsay. They were married on 20 March 1850 at Cedar County, Iowa by William Simpson a Methodist minister. Their children were Mariah E (died young), unknown infant born 1853, William Jr, Ida May Munn and twins Ulysses S. G. and Samuel Curtis. William was one of the original settlers of Cedar county arriving in July 1835. He erected a cabin and prepared a home on 160 acres of land from the government in Rochester Township. He was in the mercantile business but spent most of his life as a farmer. William was an invalid for the last 20 years of his life and until his death he lived on pluck. His funeral was one of the largest known in the county with the vehicle procession so long that that the last in line were not able to reach the cemetery in time for the internment. He had been a Mason and was a Republican.
