William B. Stevens, one of the old settlers of the county, died at his home a quarter mile west of Exline, Saturday night at 10:00. Mr. Stevens died as the result of internal injuries received a week ago when he was caught under a falling hay stacker. A surgical operation seemed to have been successful but Mr. Steven's constitution was not strong enough to stand the strain. His death will be regretted by a large circle of friends in all parts of the county. The funeral services were held yesterday from the Christian Church in Exline at 4:00 o'clock in the after noon and interment was made in the Exline Cemetery. Elder Joseph Goss, of this city, delivered the funeral address, which was listened to with interest by a very large crowd of people. The church building was not large enough to accommodate all the people and the funeral was one of the most notable recently held in the little village of Exline. WB Stevens was born June 12, 1844, at Abington, IL. He was 56 years, 1 month, and 9 days old, at his death July 21, 1900. He was married to Elizabeth Starks, February aa, 1869. There was born to this union nine children, seven sons and two daughters. Two have passed on before. A wife and seven children survive to mourn the loss of a beloved husband and father. WB Stevens became a member of the Christian Church twenty-eight years ago and has live all these years striving to attain a higher and better knowledge of his master and loved ones committed to his care.
