Description	:	William was the son of Francis & Abigial (Morgan) Bennett of Greenwood, Oxford, Maine. He was born in Pownal/New Gloucester Town-line. His parents moved with their young family to Greenwood, Oxford, Maine in 1812. William first married Auzillia Fifield in 1830, Greenwood, Maine. She died within their first year of marriage, had one son named Stillman b. Jul 1831 died 6 Jul 1833 at age 2. William married second Harriet L Hersey of Sumner, Oxford, Maine on 10 June 1832 in Greenwood, Maine. William and Harriet had 5 sons and 4 daughters. His son Ensworth became the owner and operator of a saw Mill and Timber yard in Sweden, son George was a successful Town cobbler/Shoemaker in Norway, Charles was a successful farmer in Sweden, Stillman died from disease during the Civil War, he was sent home ill, he is buried at Pine Grove in Norway, Maine and son James settled in Bethel and then Newry, Maine. It appears the daughters all married successful men in business. William and his wife Harriet moved to Sweden, Maine in 1859, after their son-in-law William Kendall took over the operation of the General Store in Greenwood, Maine. The General Store was destroyed in 1862 during the devastating fire leveled the town of Greenwood. They remained in Sweden, Maine until their deaths. He moved into his eldest son Ensworth "Warren" Bennett large home at the four corners of Sweden, he assisted his son Ensworth "Warren" with his Saw Mill and Timber yard businesses. He died at the home of his son Ensworth "Warren", after a illness of 3-4 months. It is believed that he had a stroke. His wife Harriet remained living with their son Ensworth until her death 1893. William Bennett is buried beside both his wives, his parents, some siblings, children and many other relatives at the Greenwood City (aka Martins) Cemetery in Greenwood, Maine.
